New intensive care unit expands support for newborns in Makueni
Mutula commissions a neonatal unit developed with ENI Kenya at the Mother and Child Hospital.
Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr. presided over the opening of an equipped neonatal intensive care unit at Makueni’s Mother and Child Hospital. The unit was developed through a partnership between the county government and ENI Kenya.
The facility includes incubators, monitors, baby warmers and respiratory support equipment. Alongside the equipment investment, the county reported that health workers had received specialised training funded by ENI Kenya.
Mutula welcomed the partnership as an important addition to maternal and child health services. The combination of clinical facilities and staff preparation strengthens the hospital’s capacity to care for vulnerable newborns.
