Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr. launched Makueni County Referral Hospital’s first strategic plan, covering 2025–2030. The roadmap sets priorities for clinical services, organisational systems, staff capacity and infrastructure.

The governor linked the plan to improving patients’ experiences and the responsible management of hospital resources. The county report also noted the commissioning of a laparoscopic tower and the introduction of services including neurosurgery and haematopathology.

Plans to develop specialist centres further were presented as the next stage of the hospital’s work. Deputy Governor Lucy Mulili, county health leaders and assembly members attended the launch. The strategy brings the hospital’s service ambitions into a defined planning period.
